Family Services Tomorrow for Mrs. Bennett
Family services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Mission Mortuary for Marjorie M. (Mrs. Richard) Bennett of Pebble Beach, who was stricken yesterday while playing golf at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Rev. David Hill of All Saints' Episcopal Church, Carmel, will officiate. County Coroner Christopher H. Hill Jr. said Mrs. Bennett's death was not due to a heart attack as previously supposed but was caused by "aspiration". What caused her to choke is not known, Hill said. Witnesses reported that she had just hit the second shot on the first fairway at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club and was walking along when she collapsed. Asked if she might have been hit on the throat by a golf ball, Hill said there was no such evidence and witnesses did not see her hit. There was a doctor in the foursome behind Mrs. Bennett's who was by her side within minutes, but to no avail. Friends who wish to honor Mrs. Bennett's memory were informed that contributions would be preferred for the Marjorie M. Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Monterey Institute of Foriegn Studies.
